Asphalt driveways don’t remain black and smooth forever.  Thanks to excessive heat, ultraviolet rays, and substances such as; oil, grease, gasoline and salt, all take their toll.  Also, the forces of nature do their best to break down the surface.  If you do not maintain your driveway, cracks and potholes can appear, as well as the grass taking over the edges and working its way into the asphalt itself, which can cause cracking.  Therefore, without protection your beautiful new driveway will eventually become a lumpy, crumbly mess.

THE DO’S AND DON’TS ON SEALING YOUR DRIVEWAY

F A new driveway must cure at least 6 months (preferably in warm                 temperatures) before adding a sealant.

F Seal every two or three years.  Don’t coat too often as it results in a slick surface.

F Seal anytime a consistent temperature of 50 degrees occurs.

F If RAIN is expected with the next 36 Hours DO NOT SEAL.

F Allow at least 24 hours before using your newly sealed driveway.

FApply a thin coating at a time as it could dry too slowly, and lead to “mud cracking.”
