Emil Manel established the company business back in 1952. After he retired from his farming business, he bought one of the very first front-end loaders in Rochester. For the next 20 years he did most of his excavation work for various builders and developers with a dozer, backhoe and loader. In 1972 his son Chuck Manel joined the organization, thus bringing about the company's incorporation. Following his graduation from the University of Rochester in 1973 as a math major with a minor in education, Chuck then took over the company as president. Since then Manel Excavating has done mostly paving and sealing work.
Back in 1973, the stoning and paving work was done with one truck. The company has been steadily growing since then. Today we have all the equipment (large or small) to tackle any job. Our goal has always been to be as self sufficient as possible, increasing the types of work that can be done in-house to improve upon quality control and craftsmanship.
